AFAES ry is an association in Finland.
It is an acronym for Africans and African-Europeans in Europe
Association.
It is involved in the
interest of both Africans and Europeans living in Europe.
It covers a wider
sphere of the greater multicultural African continent. Therefore, everyone of
African roots is in one way or another under the protective shield of our
jurisdiction. Multiculturalism and open-mindedness are taken into consideration
in all our activities.
AFAES provides its activities especially for youth, so
they can integrate better into the society they live in.
AFAES ry was founded in 2003 in Helsinki.
It pursues the following goals:
¤ To combat racism through teamwork.
¤ To employ African migrants to be self sufficient.
¤ To educate African migrants and develop their self-esteem.
¤ To introduce African food through festivals and other happenings.
¤ To cooperate with African NGO´s around the world.
¤ To establish close contacts with associations and companies in Finland.
¤ To organise seminars on African immigrants problems.
¤ To assist our members to organise and participate in multicultural conferences, workshops and seminars.
¤ To assist people living in intercultural marriages.
¤ To help Africans living in violent relationships.
AFAES workshops, seminars and conferences are specially designed for the following:
¤ integrating Africans smoothly into the Finnish society.
¤ introducing African cultures to Finns and Finnish culture to Africans.
¤ assisting African children in school subjects so they can manage better and avoid bulling.
¤ addressing contemporary African integration facts and issues.
Activities of AFAES for youth and youth workers:
Youth club activities - dancing, drumming, singing, table mat making, fabric painting, hair braiding, paper bead making, storytelling, cooking, visual art, beadwork, piano playing, recycling workshops, and language teaching.
