INTERMARRIAGE FAMILIES in FINLAND
The Africans and African-Europeans’ Association ry (AFAES ry) also runs workshops for the intermarriage families in Finland with the aim of teaching and sharing African culture, norms and traditions. The workshops provide resources for self-identification for intermarriage families including couples, spouses and their children.
The children will benefit by building long-lasting friendships with peers whose families are similar to theirs, and with whom they can ask questions, share stories, or give each other advice. Likewise, parents can share thoughts, concerns, experiences, and kind words with other parents who have the same family interests and situations. In addition, the children will get to experience as much of their parents’ rich African origins, culture and ways of lives through the entertaining yet educational workshops.
Each workshop session is a standard forty-five minutes. (Please note that we can indulge in as many pre-arranged workshops as desired in a given day or defined period. The size of the class may range from ten to twenty pupils. One or two instructors may lead a particular workshop.
