AFAES an acronym for Africans and African-Europeans in Europe Association, founded 2003 in Helsinki, as a registered multicultural association in Finland.
We are involved in the interest of both Africans and Europeans living in Europe. We covers a wider sphere of the greater multicultural African continent.
We introduces African culture to Finnish people by means of workshops, events, and other activities.
Multiculturalism and open-mindedness are taken into consideration in all our activities.
Developmental projects are integrated within the activities of AFAES.
We make a difference in the quality of life of Africans primarily through education and culture by cooperating intensively and extensively with CAISA (Helsinki International Cultural Centre). We have close contacts with other associations and co-operated bodies within and outside Finland.
GOALS:
¤ To combat racism through teamwork.
¤ To employ African migrants to be self sufficient.
¤ To educate African migrants and develop their self-esteem.
¤ To introduce African food through festivals and other happenings.
¤ To cooperate with African NGO´s around the world.
¤ To establish close contacts with associations and companies in Finland.
¤ To organise seminars on African immigrants problems.
¤ To assist our members to organise and participate in multicultural conferences, workshops and seminars.
¤ To assist people living in intercultural marriages.
¤ To help Africans living in mistrust relationships.
METHOD:
AFAES workshops, seminars and conferences are specially designed for the following:
¤ integrating Africans smoothly into the Finnish society.
¤ introducing African cultures to Finns and Finnish culture to Africans.
¤ assisting African children in school subjects so they can manage better.
¤ addressing contemporary African integration facts and issues..
