AFAES ry is the first European wide association based in Helsinki Finland that looks deeply into the interest of both Africans living in Europe and Africans who have acquired European citizenship (also dual citizenship). Our association covers a wider sphere of the greater multicultural African continent. Therefore, every one of African roots is in a way or the other under the protective shield of our jurisdiction.

AFAES ry is the first organization for African migrants that has as its goal to employ African migrants and refugees and make their quality of life better by offering them education and helping them out. AFAES ry has its base and activities in the capital of Finland, Helsinki. AFAES ry acts as an umbrella association to different many African associations. Multiculturalism, open-mindedness, development projects and the possibility of employment are all integrated within the activities of AFAES ry. Also, informing African migrants of changes and new positive developments taking place in the southern province of Finland is a part of our association's program.

So, during our term of office, we have activated and encouraged African migrants, and used modern information methods to find out the present needs of African migrants in Finland today. Our hope is that African migrants living further away would be able to enjoy our expertise and thereby develop workable co-operation agreement with us. They have a lot of knowledge that we could benefit from in our activities. We have also started close contacts with companies in Helsinki and received a lot of positive feedback. First of all we have sought out their willingness to employ African migrants. Secondly, the areas in which there is greater willingness to employ African migrants and refugees, and thirdly, the qualifications required for initiating employment contracts. The initiatives from companies to integrate African migrants have been very positive.

Our association has started to integrate African migrant’s association under the same roof. The cooperation has worked and thus proven effective, and stating the facts that African migrants associations should work together and share responsibilities taking part as one in all activities. Together we seek to support each other in employment and educational schemes for the benefit of all members. We have offered to all African migrant’s associations the possibility to use our good office and expertise when applying for fund. AFAES ry and its member’s association are aiming towards achieving one same goal.
